Read in Slate about some of the factors that explain why death sentences are declining so rapidly, including because jurors are rejecting prosecutors' requests for death sentences. The image below shows just how fast death sentences have decline---there were only 31 death sentences in 2016 from a high over over 300 in the mid-1990s.
